The Nolan family, long-time supporters of the event, have dedicated one of their 170 trucks to carry the ICF message along the Eastern Seaboard each day while delivering Lockyer Valley produce.
Nolan’s drivers were up until 1am polishing their trucks, ensuring every vehicle sparkled in memory of those they came to honour.
This year’s event held extra meaning for the Nolan family and the transport community, following the loss of Darren Nolan to cancer earlier this year.
“Lights on the Hill is always special, but this year was particularly important,” said Flea Nolan, Director of Nolan’s Interstate Transport and Darren’s brother.
“It means a lot to see the ICF truck out there. It’s a daily reminder of Darren, and of how many families are affected by cancer. Supporting research through Icon Cancer Foundation is something we’re proud to do.”
The ICF team joined the crowd at Gatton, meeting many who had seen the ICF truck roll in.
“It was lovely to speak with people who came up to tell us they’ve been, or currently are, patients at Icon Cancer Centre,” said Leanne Hardyman, ICF’s Community and Partnerships Manager.
“There was such a sense of connection and shared experience, and it really reinforced why community support like this matters so much.”
