Frequently Asked Questions

How is Ambrose four played?

Groups of four players (4 person ambrose) work as a team. Each player hits off the tee, the best shot is selected and all other players pick up their ball and place it, within one handspan, alongside the best ball. Each person then hits a second shot from the same spot. The best shot is again selected. This continues until the ball is in the hole. On the putting green the best ball is marked and the other balls are played from this position.

One score is thus recorded on each hole. This is the sum of the best shots used throughout the hole. During the course of the round all player’s drives must be used at least three times.

What is the dress code?

The McLeod Country Golf Club expects members and their guests to respect its dress code whilst on the course, in the Clubhouse or using the practice facilities. Those who don’t meet the dress code standards can obtain advice and purchase the appropriate clothing from the Golf Shop upon arrival.

How can I hire clubs?

The club has 20 hire sets that can be hired for $55 each set. Bookings can be made via the golf shop on 07 38481008.

How do I calculate my Ambrose handicap?

As a team you need to add all your handicaps and divide it by 8 to determine the teams Daily Handicap.
(e.g. 16 + 12 + 7 + 5 = 40, divided by 8 = 5)

What if I don’t have a handicap?

You can still play on the day, however it is in your best interest to submit a golf link number (GA Handicap) so you can get a more accurate handicap for the day. Those that don’t have a GA handicap will need to speak with the organiser on the day to receive their handicap.
